Great to see the New South Wales Longboarding Association (NLA) finally coming out of the 19th Century and into the 21st, with the introduction of Computerised Scoring. This came about when Surfing New South Wales (SNSW) offered the use of the computerised system at the 2010 State Titles. It was a unanimous hit with the spectators and contestants alike. Real-time scores (barring the odd technical hitch). Surfers knew where they stood in their heats, and spectators could see what the judges were giving for contestants rides. The concensus seems to be that the NLA, in a joint exercise with SNSW, will continue using the computerised system. It will cost the NLA some money for the use of the equipment and crew, but this will be somewhat off-set by the need for less officials, and as with the Aussie Titles, all officials must be non-surfing (in that event).
